We’re a business law firm, and more.
Representation Before Foreign and U.S. Legislative Bodies and Regulatory
Agencies
Often, the viability of our clients’ businesses depends on our
competent, timely, and successful representation before domestic and
overseas bodies. Many of our clients’ most highly value-additive
products and services are strictly regulated by governments worldwide,
often in non-transparent ways that discriminate against or even prohibit
non-domestic suppliers.
Our representation of clients is not limited merely to drafting words
on paper; we aggressively lobby, advocate or litigate before US and foreign
legislative bodies and regulatory agencies.
Described by the Wall
Street Journal as “A full-time lobbyist
for American interests in Japan”, Foster is recognized as the first
American lawyer to regularly lobby at Japan’s powerful ministries
on behalf of American business interests. Representing
the United States Embassy in Japan as Special Counsel, Foster helped
draft and lobbied adoption of Japanese market-opening legislation covering
U.S.-made telecom, medical devices and
testing laboratories. Foster represented the entire U.S. telecom
and high-tech industries as Lawyer-Lobbyist for the Electronic Industries
Association and American Electronics Association office in Tokyo.
Working with our proprietary consultancy TRADE,
Ltd., we have also successfully represented clients before regulatory
agencies and in legislative matters in the U.S. and Europe. Often this
is in connection with direct foreign investment transactions we are
handling and, where necessary, in conjunction with local counsel or
consultants.
